Why Muscat

Every other trip we run needs flights, leave and months of planning. This one needs a Friday.

Muscat is a drive from the UAE, and the water off it holds yellowfin worth the journey. For anglers who want serious fishing without committing to a full expedition, it's the most practical trip on our list — and the only one where you can bring the popping setup, the jigging setup, the spare reel and the full lure box without a single thought about baggage allowance.

The Fishing

Popping and jigging. Surface work for yellowfin and anything else pushing bait, and vertical jigging over structure when nothing's showing up top. Two days is enough to fish both properly rather than sampling each.

Four anglers maximum — enough to share costs sensibly, few enough that everyone's casting at the same school.

Season

All year round. Unlike every other destination we run, Muscat isn't locked to a window. It's the trip you take when the season's closed elsewhere, or when a free weekend appears.

The Weekend

Friday — Drive Out
Leave the UAE for Muscat, obtaining visas at the border where required. We stop for lunch on the way, check into the hotel on arrival, and have an early night — the alarm goes early.

Saturday — Full Fishing Day
Breakfast at 6:00 AM, at the marina and away by 6:30–7:00. Full day on the water, back late afternoon. Dinner together, then sleep.

Sunday — Morning Session and Home
An early session, back to the marina as early as we can manage, then the drive home the same day.

Monday — Back to Reality
Back at work with tired arms, salty clothes, good memories and hopefully a cooler full of fish. Someone has to earn the money for the next trip.

Price

AED 2,500 per angler — boat only, two days fishing

Included: two full days on the water, boat and crew, maximum four anglers

Not included: hotel, fuel, meals, snacks and drinks — these are shared equally across the group and typically work out very reasonable. Also excluded: visa fees, vehicle insurance for Oman, and tackle.

What to Bring

Everything you'd normally leave at home. Driving means baggage limits don't apply — bring the lot.

If you need gear, come into our Abu Dhabi store on Al Mina Road before you go and we'll set you up for this trip specifically. We fish it, so we know what works.

Before You Go

• Passport valid for at least six months
• Visa — obtained at the border for most nationalities, though requirements vary by nationality. Check your own position before travelling.
• Vehicle documents and insurance valid for Oman — check with your provider, as UAE motor cover does not always extend across the border
• Travel insurance recommended
